Hello hello! I remember my first time around applying for reus and feeling super lost about the whole process. I created this little page in hopes of sharing some resources and organizers that helped me along the way. Wishing you all the best and feel free to reach out if you have any questions: [email protected] or [email protected] ! Always rooting for you!!
my thoughts: Some general advice I have is to aim to apply to 10-15 (max)! I was that person that tried to apply for 20-30 but quickly realized that the work necessary was not worth the hassle (plus quality over quantity seriously here). If you have the opportunity to attend a conference, talk to the graduate students/program coordinators and network x10000. This is a great opportunity to get a sense of the program's culture and to find unique things to highlight in your application (that's beyond what's listed on the REU website). My last point is a bit controversial but I loved the opportunity to chat with the specific faculty/graduate students in the labs I was interested in. I luckily met a handful of them at ABRCMS but don't feel scared to send the cold email out. Anyways, best of luck and always here as a resource :).
Reu Application Suggestions (Personally, I’d take this with a big grain of salt haha)
Note that deadlines, program dates and requirements change yearly to a certain degree but this is a really solid list to start looking from! This was the most important resource I found ⬇️!
A few other reu lists I found:
